Project Management, Leeds

Description

The directors of a management company in Leeds requested that I procure substantial repairs to a pedestrian bridge in the centre of Leeds. I appointed a structural engineer to design a solution and I dealt with the contract administration.

The project was complicated by the fact that the contractor worked over water and the base of the lagoon below could not be used to support the bridge while a significant part of the structure was replaced. Health and Safety was a major consideration.

Perhaps the most challenging part of the project was the sequence to replace the structure of the bridge but holding the remainder of the bridge in place.

The project was a success and the client kindly wrote a testimonial:

"Keith supervised the repair of our wooden footbridge and we are delighted with the result. He was very thorough and managed to successfully guide us through what was a complicated and difficult project. From start to finish his involvement was invaluable and we felt we were in safe hands. We will certainly be using his services again."
